Staff Attorney for Native Nations Partnerships

Midwest Environmental Advocates (MEA) is hiring a Staff Attorney for Native Nation Partnerships to focus on providing legal support to Native nations and other Indigenous partners. MEA is a nonprofit law center that combines the power of law with the resolve of communities facing environmental injustice to secure and protect the rights of all people to healthy water, land and air. We provide legal services to communities with environmental concerns and seek to build their power. MEA has stood alongside and provided legal representation to Native nations to help them achieve their goals. This is a new position that will continue that history by providing legal resources and services that support recognition of Native nation environmental sovereignty and self-determination.
The attorney will work on a variety of issues such as: oil pipelines, energy infrastructure, mining and other extractive industries; Clean Water Act implementation and Treatment as a State matters; wild rice stewardship and management; hydroelectric generation; and climate resilience and adaptation.

The Development Director plays a key role in stewarding Midwest Environmental Advocates by leading efforts to secure the resources we need to achieve our mission and strategic goals. MEA is a nonprofit law center that combines the power of law with the resolve of communities facing environmental injustice to secure and protect the rights of all people to healthy water, land, and air. We provide legal services to communities with environmental concerns and seek to build their power.
The position has leadership roles for MEA’s fundraising in the areas of strategic planning, data management, donor events and cultivation, campaign execution and board engagement. The position also supports MEA’s grant application processes.

2023 Great Lakes Summer Fellows Program

The Cooperative Institute for Great Lakes Research (CIGLR) announces the 2023 Great Lakes Summer Fellows Program, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab (GLERL). The Great Lakes Summer Fellows Program exposes students to a broad range of STEM disciplines by providing hands-on research training and career development mentoring in a supportive and inclusive environment. Through this program, we seek to support diversity in Great Lakes research by valuing the wide range of identities, backgrounds, perspectives, and skills that enrich scientific exploration and help connect science with society. We strongly encourage applications from students who identify with groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in STEM careers.
We are offering eight (8) full-time, twelve-week positions.
Options exist for fully remote, hybrid, or fully in-person fellowship experiences.
In-person work will be conducted at the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) in Ann Arbor, MI.
Fellowships will begin on June 5 and end on August 25, 2023.
Each student will receive a $10,000 stipend, paid in four monthly installments of $2,500
The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation’s 2023 Internship Program

The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation’s 2023 Internship Program will run from June 5 through August 10. Interns will earn $18 per hour and have an opportunity to work with one of Mott’s program teams or communications department. They also will learn about our administrative departments: accounting, facilities, grants administration, human resources, information technology, and investments. Participants will participate in the program in person at the Foundation’s headquarters in Flint, Michigan.
Mott’s summer internship program aims to provide an enriching and rewarding learning experience for students with varying career aspirations. Designed to expose students to the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, the internship experience will help develop and strengthen the professional skills required to work in these fields.
