Legislators Say No to Undercutting the Clean Water Act

A recent executive order directed the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) to fast-track hundreds of fossil fuel projects – including the dangerous Line 5 tunnel in the Straits of Mackinac. Rushing these projects could mean little to no opportunity for community input and flaunting Clean Water Act regulations. Thank you to Representatives Larsen, Wilson, and Scholten for reminding the ACOE that these projects are not above the law and calling for transparency.

Cuts and Dismantling of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Risk Lives and Point to Privatizing Critical Public Services

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides critical search and rescue services, storm monitoring, climate science, and weather alerts to the public – these services have returned on their investment many times over. At Freshwater Future, we believe weather data and warnings don’t belong behind paywalls. This article provides an inside look into the critical services of NOAA and what’s at stake while it is on the chopping block.
