The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program, or LIHWAP is a new federal program that provides funding and prioritizes reconnecting households’ water and assisting those with imminent shutoffs.

In late spring and summer 2022, Lead service lines are being replaced in Detroit neighborhoods according to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. If construction crews are replacing pipes at or near your residence, we recommend taking the precautionary steps to FLUSH, FILTER, and use COLD water for drinking, cooking, and baby formula.
