Blue Fish Canada

Amount: $3,500

Title: Chemical Spills and Fish Kill Reporting Protocols

Summary: Blue Fish Canada will strengthen the response to chemical spills and resulting fish kills by developing new response and reporting protocols that will empower the public to collect evidence and hold chemical companies accountable.

Chautauqua-Conewango Consortium

Amount: $2,000

Title: Floating Classroom Experience to Increase Awareness and Advocacy

Summary: Aboard the Chautauqua Belle steamboat, community participants will rotate through stations themed around critical water quality issues with resources on how to advocate for that issue and get involved in the decision-making process. 

Coalition to Save the Menominee 

Amount: $1,000

Title: Next Generation Water Protectors

Summary: The Coalition to Save the Menominee will hold a public event on the banks of the Menominee River to re-ignite advocacy efforts and protect the river as a local mine is beginning the permitting process to open, threatening local water quality and wildlife. 

Developing Respectful Educated Aspiring Minds with Sports (DREAMS)

Amount: $1,000

Title: Green DREAMS Water Initiative

Summary: To improve water quality and advocate for green infrastructure solutions in Flint, DREAMS will engage local high schoolers to create rain gardens for stormwater runoff, with students then engaging local leaders and the community to push for broader adoption of green infrastructure projects through tours and a new toolkit.

Lake Erie Advocates

Amount: $1,000

Title: Taking it to the Airwaves: Ban Factory “Farms”

Summary: Lake Erie Advocates will defend Lake Erie against concentrated animal farms and other polluting sources by expanding outreach to new areas and growing citizen participation to educate decision-makers. 

Lake Superior Watershed Conservancy

Amount: $1,000

Title: Goulais River Water Quality Monitoring Program

Summary: Lake Superior Watershed Conservancy will purchase equipment and create a volunteer-run water quality monitoring program to act as a watchdog for an incoming wastewater treatment plant and will use this data to push for policies to safeguard local drinking water.

Michigan Against Atomic Waste

Amount: $4,500

Title: From Data to Defense: Legal Action to Challenge Approval of Radioactive Waste

Summary: After the expanded disposal of hazardous and radiological waste was approved, Michigan Against Atomic Waste seeks to appeal the decision and ensure environmental permitting is grounded in science, transparent data, and protective water quality standards.

Michigan Hydro Relicensing Coalition 

Amount: $4,500

Title: Hydropower Sale Opposition to Support Dam Safety and Affordable Energy

Summary: The Michigan Hydro Relicensing Coalition is intervening to oppose the sale of 13 hydropower dams to an out-of-state private equity firm and advocate for ratepayer fairness, dam safety, and river restoration. 

Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition 

Amount: $1,000

Title: Advancing Road Salt Policy Reform to Protect Our Watersheds

Summary: To reduce chloride pollution across Ontario, the Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition will strengthen policy engagement and advocacy efforts to support provincial policy reform that encourages responsible winter maintenance practices while maintaining public safety.

Save Our Water (S.O. H2O)

Amount: $5,000

Title: PFAS Air Deposition and Precipitation Reduction Initiative 

Summary: Save Our Water will hold a public session to advocate for state agencies to update permitting that will reduce PFAS entering surface and groundwater in Wisconsin and the Lake Michigan Basin and organize with the community and elected leaders to establish more protective emission standards and practices for PFAS.

Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association 

Amount: $1,000

Title: Investigating Neonicotinoid Pollution in Seneca Lake

Summary: With increased use of neonicotinoids on vineyards in the New York Finger Lakes region, the Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association will use data to encourage limiting their use.

Springfield Township Environmental Protectors

Amount: $4,000

Title: Protect Springfield Township

Summary: In light of a newly proposed gravel mine, Springfield Township Environmental Protectors will organize workshops to mobilize residents and teach them how to provide public input, prepare testimony, and attend planning and zoning meetings.

Sterling Water Stewards

Amount: $4,000

Title: Monitoring Drinking Water Impacts of a Microchip Facility

Summary: In response to the construction of the largest microchip manufacturing facility in the United States, Sterling Water Stewards will implement a needed water quality monitoring program to protect drinking water sources and hold the manufacturer accountable.

Superior Rivers Watershed Association

Amount: $1,500

Title: Providing Tools for Watershed Protection Advocates

Summary: Following the start of construction of a local pipeline reroute near Lake Superior, Superior Rivers Watershed Association will continue to monitor river health to assess impacts of the pipeline construction. They will also disseminate water quality data reports to local groups and have resources ready for advocates should the construction impair the waters.

Talking Rivers, Inc.

Amount: $3,500

Title: Workshopping Rights of Nature in New York State Law

Summary: The Legal Action for Bioregions (LAB) is a circle of law practitioners, law students, and community organizers who will support grassroots ecocentric organizing by educating residents and decision-makers about New York State law, and the benefits of ecocentric laws.

Water Is Life 

Amount: $2,000

Title: Water is Life Festival 2026 Support

Summary: The Water is Life Festival will bring people together in northern Michigan to raise awareness of freshwater threats and encourage attendees to take action and become local advocates for their community and its waters.

WaterLegacy

Amount: $5,000

Title: Stop Mega-Mine Permits

Summary: WaterLegacy will organize advocacy efforts to: 1) prevent the reinstatement of permits for a local mine, and 2) to block deposit mining in the Boundary Waters watershed and tailings storage in the headwaters of the St. Louis River.

Water Protector Network 

Amount: $1,000

Title: Community-Based Monitoring, Reporting, and Advocacy Training

Summary: The Water Protector Network will design a training program that supports community watchdog efforts to monitor construction projects, review project permits and regulations; and identify and report concerns near wetlands, waterways, and coastlines. 

Water Watchers

Amount: $4,000

Title: Empowering Local Water Protection

Summary: In response to provincial rollbacks of protective environmental policies in Ontario, Water Watchers will synthesize policy and protection tools that are still available to municipalities into a water protection toolkit that will educate municipal leaders about how to maintain localized water protections.

Western New York Environmental Alliance

Amount: $5,000

Title: Protect Our Woods and Waters: Stop the STAMP

Summary: The Western New York Environmental Alliance seeks funding to stop the development of a hyperscale data center by implementing a robust local, regional, and statewide advocacy campaign and by working with environmental attorneys and subject matter experts to review data center applications.
