Nonprofit organizations: Security Threat Requires Website Updates

A technology nonprofit recently announced critical vulnerabilities in many website hosts that use the PHP programming language including WordPress, Drupal, Moodle, Magento, and others. Attackers could take control of vulnerable websites and steal critical donor and financial information.

What can you do? Contact your web host or IT provider today and ask them to confirm your PHP version and apply the update intended to address the security vulnerability. Only PHP 8.2 and newer releases receive official patches. Older versions need to be upgraded, which can take more than a routine update.

Need help? The Conservation Capacity Project is currently offering free assistance to U.S. organizations through Groundwire Advisors. Contact Groundwire by sending an email to josh@groundwireadvisors.com and galia@groundwireadvisors.com. Please put the name of your organization and “Conservation Capacity Project” in your email subject line when sending your request.

Take Actions: Together, Our Voices Make a Difference

U.S. Permitting Reform Bill Threatens Clean Water

A new bill, the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act, is being rushed through Congress and aims to speed up construction of large infrastructure projects like pipelines and data centers. The bill is a huge threat to clean water by expanding our dependence on fossil fuels, cutting wetland protections, and taking decision-making power away from the communities and governments closest to affected waterways. The Senate intends to vote on this bill soon after the November 3rd general election- send them a message today and ask them to OPPOSE the permitting reform bill.
