All About Water Fall Convening Reconfigured

Our Fall 2022 All About Water Convening will occur through community-focused individualized sessions as a way to beat Zoom fatigue. We will help community-based groups to develop a plan for watchdogging SRF in their communities. We will be holding another session in the new year, so we’ll be looking forward to that one as well. Please email alana@freshwaterfuture.org if you have any questions.

Lead in Duluth

Recent voluntary testing indicates there is a problem with lead levels in parts of the city of Duluth. City leaders and advocates have been working to protect residents through a “five year project to replace as many lead services as possible.” While mandatory testing results have not yet been released, we suggest residents with a possible lead service take steps to protect their families both until results are released and during lead service line replacements, which can disturb lead and flush it into drinking water. As a reminder, no amount of lead is safe in drinking water.  Click here to learn how to keep you and your family safe from lead in drinking water.

Strategic Plan Survey Winners

We have selected winners from our random drawing of Strategic Planning Survey participants. Congratulations to Cathy from Oscoda, MI who won $250 and Dennis from Minnetonka, MN who won $150! We want to thank everyone who participated in our strategic planning process, and we will be looking at all the results next week during our board and staff retreat. We will keep you updated as we finalize the new plan.

NAF Conference

On October 25th, 2022, Freshwater Future staff Ann Baughman and Kwamé Hampton presented at the 5th National Adaptation Forum in Baltimore, Maryland. Their presentation was focused on the work of our Flood Focus App and how it is helping communities in Detroit, MI.
