Updated Lead and Copper Rule Released by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
On Tuesday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released new updates to the Lead and Copper Rule that will help to get the lead out of our drinking water. More than 2,000 messages from Freshwater Future partners to the EPA and the White House were critical for getting these improvements adopted and released quickly, thank you! “No amount of lead is safe and yet every day our communities are forced to drink from lead service lines, placing public health and safety at risk.” said Jill Ryan, Executive Director of Freshwater Future. “While this rule is a critical step forward, we must push for equitable replacements, public education, and prioritization for our most vulnerable communities. We look forward to continuing to work with our partners and the EPA towards a true lead-free future.”
