Ontario Advocates Protest Passage of Bill that Supports Private Take Over of Public Water Supplies
Ontario legislators passed a new bill that allows for-profit corporations to easily take over public water systems. The package of legislation will limit transparency and local oversight, increase risk of water quality issues, and lead to unaffordable water rates. Advocates protested both inside and outside of the provincial legislative building and vowed to pursue reforms and repeals of the harmful bills that drastically weaken public water protections for Ontarians.
