Lawsuit Threatens New National Lead in Drinking Water Protections
Last October, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency updated the federal Lead and Copper Rule for drinking water. The much-needed improvements include lowering the concentration of lead in drinking water at which governments take action, requiring the removal of all lead service lines within 10 years, and increasing public notification requirements. Despite this historic step towards safer water, a powerful lobby for water utility interests filed a petition to review the new protections. Freshwater Future is dismayed by this blatant disregard for public health.
