Petoskey, MI – Freshwater Future, a leading binational non-profit dedicated to protecting the Great Lakes and supporting grassroots and community groups across the region, is pleased to announce it has received a $250,000 grant from The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

This funding will enable Freshwater Future to continue supporting grassroots and community organizations across the region with small grants, capacity building, technical expertise, collaboration, and policy engagement, helping local groups and leaders protect waterways and drinking water in their own communities.

Freshwater Future, founded more than 30 years ago, has awarded more than $6 million in small grants, along with a variety of capacity-building services and technical expertise to local groups and leaders. Each year, Freshwater Future supports hundreds of groups in water protection initiatives.

“Freshwater Future is thankful to the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation for their ongoing support in tackling the urgent freshwater issues facing communities around the Great Lakes,” says Jill Ryan, Executive Director. “This funding will allow Freshwater Future to assist more local groups with funding, resources, and technical support, and strengthen their efforts and voices to create meaningful change in their communities and the region.”
