Tell the EPA: Don’t Change Clean Water Protections
The U.S. EPA is accepting public comments on whether they should start a new rulemaking process for Section 401 of the Clean Water Act, which protects Waters of the United States from pollution. This is consequential because the federal government wants an excuse to roll-back existing water pollution and wetland protections in favor of fast-tracking destructive projects. In addition, changing Section 401 again would only make the wastewater permitting process more confusing and complicated. You can help–tell the U.S. EPA that a new rulemaking process is NOT needed and to continue using the 2023 Rule for Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. Register to make a comment at the Wednesday, July 30th listening session (1-4:30 pm ET) or visit our current Action Alert page for written submission information!

Major First Nations Water Bill Opposed by Provincial Official
The Anishinabek Nation is calling for the resignation of Ontario’s Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks for attempting to kill a Canadian federal bill (Bill C-61) that advances access to clean drinking water, source water protection, and water infrastructure on First Nation lands. Required by a Federal Court Order, this bill is critically needed to ensure safe and clean water to communities that often endure extended boil orders and polluted water sources. Supporters of Bill C-61 plan to reintroduce the legislation this fall.
