Good News on Great Lakes Funding for 2018

Posted on July 12, 2017 by

The 2018 federal budget proposed by the Trump administration once again zeroes out 100% of the funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), but on Wednesday, the House Appropriations Committee rejected that proposal, releasing an appropriations bill that fully funds the GLRI.

This is promising news! Although the budget battle is far from over, the GLRI enjoys widespread bipartisan support from legislators throughout the entire Great Lakes region, thanks in part to the unwavering vocal support expressed by Great Lakes residents like you and me. Together, we’re raising our voices and standing up for the waters we all rely on for drinking water, recreation, and economic stability. And Congress is listening; that’s something to celebrate.
