My name is Ben Tompkins and I graduated this past spring from Carleton College, a small liberal arts college in central Minnesota. I graduated with a degree in Political Science and International Relations with a particular academic interest in social movements and protest. I was fortunate enough to study abroad twice—once in Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua where I studied social movements and sustainable development, and again in London where I was apprenticed to a British glassblower. I am a Michigander at heart though; I was born in Albion and graduated high school in East Grand Rapids in 2004. My family recently moved to Harbor Springs so I am just getting settled into living on the big lake and preparing for a winter full of snow. I am also getting settled here at Freshwater Future and am excited to be assisting with the organization and the Advocate Mentor program.
