A Preliminary Victory for a Park on Whiskey Island

In December 2004, two of our three Cuyahoga County Commissioners approved the county’s acquisition of the property to develop the 20-acre greenspace area as a park and to maintain the existing marina for recreational boating.

However, a newly elected commissioner will take office in January 2005, and may oppose the deal. In February 2005, the port authority will have an eminent domain “necessity” hearing against the county. If the port authority acquires the property it will be developed. Stay tuned!
