The Inaugural National Conference on Coastal and Estuarine Habitat Restoration will be held April 13-16, 2003, in Baltimore, Maryland. Restore America’s Estuaries, an alliance of community-based coastal restoration organizations, will host the conference, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor Hotel.
The purpose of the conference is to mobilize the coastal and estuarine habitat restoration community – including participants from the government, corporate, non-profit, and education sectors – to advance our knowledge, practice, pace, and success in habitat restoration. Program focus will include restoration science and practice, planning and priority setting, monitoring protocol and adaptive management, best practices and models for success, community outreach, national and regional policy strategies, and partnerships and funding opportunities. The conference will focus on habitat restoration in coastal and estuarine areas including the Great Lakes Region.
Conference partners include the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Coastal America, the Association of National Estuary Programs, the Coastal States Organization, the Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership, Ducks Unlimited, the Estuarine Research Federation, and Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council.
