This new annual publication will present stories of successful projects that have been completed by grassroots initiatives across the Great Lakes Basin with assistance from the Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat Network and Fund. Making It Happen will communicate some of the specific project results of these initiatives to other groups, citizens, and government leaders interested in protecting their local habitats. We have collected the stories from more than 200 projects that have been funded by GLAHNF over the past 5 years. The stories are told by the local citizens that worked diligently to complete projects to benefit their own local environment. We encourage readers to use these stories as tools for your own aquatic habitat protection efforts by taking the opportunity to network with groups that have worked on habitats similar to those you are working on, by borrowing creative project ideas, and by finding inspiration from knowing there are so many dedicated, concerned citizens and grassroots groups working across the Great Lakes Basin to protect these vital resources.
