Jill Ryan, Executive Director
For those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting our immediate past Board President, Annoesjka Steinman, I would like to make the introduction. Annoesjka provided leadership on the Freshwater Future Board of Directors for three years, culminating with a year as Board President.
During her board term, Annoesjka brought an unfailing positive attitude to our work; encouraged, cajoled, and inspired other board members; and always led by example. Whether through the fun of creating new innovations for the organization or the difficulty of navigating tough financial times, Annoesjka brought calm, reasoned and researched ideas to the table.
Prior to joining the Freshwater Future board, we were familiar with Annoesjka because of her outstanding leadership with the Mona Lake Watershed Council, where Freshwater Future was able to support her work on the ground. This is where we first learned that in addition to being an outstanding leader, she is a skilled advocate, talented coalition builder and strategic thinker.
Since 2009, Annoesjka has been leading the Blanford Nature Center as their Executive Director, where as she puts it, she is able to blend her professional background of environmental protection, farmland preservation, community education, nonprofit management, and development with her personal passions—the outdoors, community sustainability, and meeting new people.
Thank you Annoesjka, for all you do for our planet and all you have done and continue to do for Freshwater Future. Your leadership and knowledge will be missed on the Freshwater Future board. Annoesjka received the 2011 Freshwater Future Grassroots Advocate Award in recognition of her years of service not just to Freshwater Future, but to the watershed council, her community and our waters. Congratulations Annoesjka, the award is just a small token of our appreciation for your exemplary work.
