We Need Your Help — Clean Water Protections Under Threat By Trump EPA

Posted on December 7, 2017 by

The vast majority of AmericansRepublicans and Democratswant the EPA to safeguard the streams that provide us drinking water and the wetlands that filter drinking water, protect communities from floods, and provide habitat for wildlife. Instead of listening to the will of the people, Scott Pruitt and President Trump’s EPA are proposing a plan that would leave these vital water bodies vulnerable to pollution and destruction.

Their proposal would delay the effective date of the 2015 Clean Water Rule. This commonsense rule would restore protections to the drinking water sources for over 100 million Americans and to millions of acres of wetlands that safeguard thousands of communities from flooding and filter pollutants. If polluters and their allies in the administration get their way, these waters will remain at risk and we won’t be able to protect our communities or our health.

We need you to take 60 seconds of your time to send a message to the EPA. Public comments on the proposed delay of the Clean Water Rule are being accepted here until December 13th, 2017. You may copy and paste the message below into the comment box and personalize if you wish.

Dear Administrator Pruitt and Acting Assistant Secretary Fisher:

I strongly oppose the proposal to delay the implementation deadlines for the 2015 Clean Water Rule, which became effective on August 28, 2015. The Rule has overwhelming public support and your proposal flies in the face of that.  Your agencies should be focused on implementing Clean Water Rule as soon as EPA is authorized to do so.

We have already lost too many wetlands and are losing even more at an alarming rate. Small and headwater streams have been at increased risk of pollution for way too long. These vital water resources protect communities from flood waters, filter pollutants, and feed the drinking water sources for over 1 and 3 people. We need to protect them now, not leave them at risk.

Please immediately withdraw this reckless proposal. We can’t afford to delay critical clean water protections.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

@FreshwaterFutur
