The News is intended to provide a forum for the free exchange of ideas among citizens and organizations working to protect aquatic habitats in the Great Lakes Basin.

International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB)
Conference of the Parties VIII (COP8)
Curitiba, Brazil, March 20-31, 2006
The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) is preparing for the upcoming Conference of the Parties VIII (COP8) related to the Convention on Biological Diversity to be held in Curitiba, Brazil from March 20-31, 2006. Scholarships are available for 5 or more North Americans. 13th Annual International Conference on the St. Lawrence River Ecosystem

Governor Jennifer Granholm has proclaimed June 3-11, 2006, as Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week in Michigan to encourage people to find ways to prevent the spread and introduction of aquatic invasive species in our waters. Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week is an opportunity to learn about aquatic invasive species,their impacts on Michigan waters,as well as what you can do to prevent their introduction and spread in your local area and throughout the state.
