Spring Funding Cycle Brings Record Number of Applicants

The Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat Network and Fund (Network and Fund) provides funding and networking assistance to grassroots groups and citizens working to protect aquatic habitats across the Great Lakes Basin. The Spring 2001 Funding Cycle brought a record 69 requests for funding from the small grants program. This large pool of outstanding project proposals made the selection process very difficult, considering just 14 of the 69 proposed projects were able to be funded. Now in its sixth year of providing grants, the Network and Fund has made over 220 grants totaling over $390,000.

The grants ranged from $500 to $3,100, and were awarded to the following organizations:

The Network and Fund is a project of the Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, funded by a grant from the C.S. Mott Foundation. For more information on the Network and Fund, funded projects, or an application, see the GLAHNF website (www.glhabitat.org) or contact Jill Ryan at the Network and Fund (231) 347-1811.
